Notes:Mike Garson and Danny Holt’s musical partnership shows that eclectic music-makers can work across generational divides and beyond rigid genre distinctions to always find something new, fresh, and exciting. Garson is a genre-bursting musical figure who is well-known for his work with David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, and others—but he is also a composer and improviser whose work is increasingly gaining the attention of those in the jazz and classical worlds (and more importantly, by those who don’t see the need to define their listening by these old fashioned categories!) Holt is one of a young generation of classically-trained musicians influenced as much by jazz, rock, pop, and non-western music as by the classical tradition. Both pianists are known for their intense virtuosity and riveting performances. They collaborated on Holt’s 2009 release, Fast Jump, and will be preparing a CD of Garson’s solo piano works in 2010.
